The Secret According to Jesus

Rev. Ed Townley combines contemplative prayer and meditation to offer a fresh look a the Sermon on the Mount.  His understanding of the history and culture in which Jesus lived is immediately obvious.  He carries the reader  on a trip back through time and takes looks at the sermon one dictate at a time.  He invites us  to use meditation, contemplation, and journaling to make the sermon not just something to read, but something to understand as a spiritual experience. 

Townley clearly plays off the popularity of the secret.  He asserts that the Jesus' sermon, which is one of the longest passages attributed to Jesus without interruption by author comentary,  provides life changing secrets, if only we look beneath the surface.   He asks us to forget the age of the words, or their familiarity, and take a new look.  This book is worth a try.
